Regen Policy Initiative

Regeneration Through Policy, Powered by People

WHO WE ARE

A ground-up coalition driven by farmers, policy innovators, and community advocates working together to cultivate meaningful, lasting change. By protecting soil health, enhancing nutrient density, and fortifying food systems, our regenerative policy efforts help producers thrive and communities flourish.

Building on years of collaboration, Regen Policy Initiative (RPI) aligns our policy work fully with the Soil & Climate Alliance mission: an inclusive regenerative agricultural transition that supports farmers, brands, and consumers.

In partnership with InCommon Group, plus longstanding and new collaborators, RPI focuses on long-term impact, grassroots leadership, & systems-level change so policy keeps pace with what farmers need to make regeneration real at scale.

  • What We Value

Farmer leadership: Policy shaped with, by, and for producers.

Science & outcomes: Soil health, water, biodiversity, and nutrient density.

Equity & inclusion: On-ramps for farms of every size and stage.

Market pull + public support: Bridge incentives with demand signals.

Bipartisan pragmatism: Durable wins over headlines.

  • What We Work On

Protect funding for the regenerative transition: Keep cost-share, TA, and measurement dollars flowing where they work.

De-risk adoption: Crop insurance and lending that reward regen practices.

Nutrient-dense supply chains: Align standards, data, and procurement with nutrition and soil outcomes.

State & federal alignment: Pilot programs that scale nationally, with flexible state pathways.

Education & Advocacy

Policy in Motion

Healthy Soils legislation now spans 27 states, covering nearly 64% of U.S. farmland and impacting over 63% of Americans. This is shifting the landscape for regenerative policy across the nation.

Educating For Impact

Our coalition aims to elevate understanding of regenerative agriculture, highlighting its soil, community, health, and climate benefits, and to build the public will needed to champion policies and practices that make regeneration the norm.
